Since the introduction of the now widely used Industry 4.0 concept, a lot of companies have embarked on their Digital Transformation journey. However, most of their initiatives focus on process improvement, factory design, data integration etc. Very few focused on people, until recently.

 

A 2020 study from Gartner points out that COVID-19 has changed the game and has prompted “smart manufacturers to rethink their long-term factory designs and refocus on people”.

 

In this presentation, we will discuss what specific actions and tools can be used to enable the connected worker and increase manufacturing operational agility. We will see that the connected worker is more than a mobile worker. Solutions exist that can dramatically change the way operators, quality engineers, supervisors work by minimizing the risk of making errors, delivering the right information to the right person when he/she needs it, without compromising security and process integrity.

 

A case study will be presented on how plant personnel safely and remotely monitor and operate in a critical infrastructure.
