Operations and Tasks

An operation represents a distinct production process, while a task represents a distinct action used to complete the process.

Operations are the primary components for a production route through the factory, and can stand alone when associated with only one action. Where multiple actions are required, tasks comprise the completion subset. By default, each production route can have up to 20 operations configured, and each operation can have up to 20 tasks.
Note: In the PM MES lexicon, a task is called a step. The terms can be used interchangeably, but the operator client identifies a step for an operation as a task.
