Patric McElroy joined GE in September 2017, as Vice President and Chief Software Engineer for GE’s Power business. He also currently serves as the Vice President of Engineering for GE Digital. He leads the global Engineering team, responsible for driving innovation and execution excellence to meet customer commitments and win in the markets in partnership with the GM team.
Patric has over 20 years of experience leading engineering teams delivering mission-critical, enterprise server and commercial cloud services products. Most recently as part of Microsoft’s Cloud + Enterprise (Azure) businesses, Patric served as a member of the engineering leadership team that was at the forefront of Microsoft's "bet the business" transition to enterprise-grade commercial cloud services.
Prior to joining GE, Patric spent sixteen years at Microsoft, Patric has held various engineering positions of increased scope and impact. As the engineering leader for the Azure Customer Experience Data Science and Engineering team, Patric formed and led the team applying data science and advanced analytics to deliver key insights driving prioritization of feature enhancements across Azure services and identifying and removing adoption blockers for Azure's largest enterprise customers. As an engineering leader in the Windows Live Services group, Patric led the service platform engineering team delivering business-critical scalability and fault-tolerance capabilities for Microsoft Account (Windows LiveID) service - Microsoft's internet scale, consumer identity service handling over 13B authentication requests per day. As the Principal Group Program Manager, Patric led the Technical Program Management team that incubated and delivered into commercial service Microsoft's Azure SQL cloud service - Microsoft's SQL Database delivered as a fully managed, cloud- based RDBMS service. Patric also brings extensive engineering and cross-platform integration experience from role as Engineering Product Unit Manager for Microsoft BizTalk Server and Windows Messaging, where his teams delivered mission-critical, enterprise application integration platforms for Microsoft's largest enterprise customers.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Patric held various software development and engineering leadership positions, including as Vice President of Development for Template Software, a leading provider of cross-platform, enterprise application integration (EAI) platforms. Patric holds a M.Sc. in Computer Science from George Mason University and BA from The Catholic University of America (Phi Beta Kappa).
