Webinar: Insights from VBN Components: Redefining wear resistance through 3D printing of hard metals with high carbide content
An essential component to producing successful additive parts is the material used to make them. The Material properties that can be achieved will dictate whether additive is a viable technology for manufacturing parts.
Swedish company VBN Components – which is known for producing the world’s hardest, commercially available steel – focuses on developing wear resistant alloys with remarkable properties. Their Vibenite® materials are produced from gas atomized metal powder, significantly reducing the raw material cost.
Join this webinar, during which VBN’s Dr. Beste will explore the Vibenite® materials and give real-life examples of achievable application benefits.
Dr. Ulrik Beste
Chief Technical Officer
Dr. Ulrik Beste has been working with materials through his whole career. A Master of Science in Engineering Physics and Material Science was followed by a Doctoral Thesis in Material Science, with a deep tribological analysis on cemented carbide wear in rock drilling. After working in the rock drilling business, he joined a metal powder manufacturer as a material developer, to later gain responsibility for the atomizing unit in the build of the largest gas metal powder factory in the world. His in-depth knowledge of materials was the key to founding VBN Components in 2008, where he is still working today as CTO. Ulrik is also very interested in cars, politics, and pop music.
