John Godsman is GE’s head of Business Development. In his role, he is responsible for accelerating GE’s global portfolio strategy, M&A, divestitures, and partnership development initiatives.
John joined GE in 2010 as Senior Executive and General Manager of Business Development at GE Aviation and was promoted to VP and General Manager in 2018. He led Aviation’s growth through strategic acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures across the engines, avionics, systems, services, digital, and additive segments. John oversaw his team’s execution of approximately 50 transactions aggregating $24 billion in value.
Prior to joining GE, John served as Managing Director and Global Head of Aerospace & Defense for Deutsche Bank. Prior to this role, he was employed by Credit Suisse First Boston in its London office and there led the European aerospace and defense coverage effort. Including his prior banking career, John has led or advised on approximately 80 transactions aggregating $85 billion in value.
John is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, with a concentration in Government. John also holds an MBA, with a concentration in Finance and Accounting, from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
John is married and has two daughters. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with the family and running marathons and ultras, skiing, fly fishing and travel. John greatly enjoys giving back to the community, is the current People with Disabilities Network Executive Sponsor and, in 2015, was the Community Service Fund Chairman.
