Thamsanqa (Thami) Mbele

Thami Mbele is President and CEO for GE’s Southern Africa region, which includes South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Madagascar. Thami is responsible for expanding the growth of the company’s businesses in the Southern Africa with focus on South Africa, which has close to 500 employees and has in-country products and services ranging from aircraft engines, power generation, water processing and security technology to medical imaging and media content.

Thami brings 20 years of experience having held several key positions in the engineering and manufacturing industries in South Africa. He joined GE from BAE Systems Land Systems OMC, where he was General Manager and Director since January 2006. Prior to that, he worked with major utility and industrial organizations in South Africa.

Thami was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He holds graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Commerce as well as a Masters degree in Engineering Management from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
