Better Value

With the cost of natural gas and electricity rising in recent years, a high-performance home can help. So even though it may cost more to purchase, a home built to the ecomagination specification is designed to have a lower total monthly cost of ownership. This is due to its significant savings in utility costs versus an industry-accepted average new home.

Homes Inspired by ecomagination are designed to deliver a guaranteed comfort level, wherein the temperature in the center of any room will not vary by more than 3 degrees from the thermostat set point (see EFL written guarantee). They can also achieve at least a 20% reduction in household energy use compared to industry-accepted average new homes. A 2,500 square-foot home built to the Homes Inspired by ecomagination specification is designed to save the homeowner between approximately $200 and $700 on annual utility bills versus an industry-accepted average new home due to energy and water savings.

The suite of GE refrigeration, cooking, and dishwashing products in the ecomagination Kitchen can help to reduce kitchen electricity use by up to 20%. For example, a consumer who purchases GE's ENERGY STAR ® qualified refrigerator and dishwasher, GE's Double Oven Electric Range, and GE's Microwave with the Power Saver button, could save approximately $30 per year at $0.1065 per kWh, compared to standard kitchen products without these energy efficient features.
