The company was established in the 1930s to finance home appliances during the Great Depression in the United States. Since then, we have diversified our products to provide you valuable solutions on the consumer, commercial and industrial markets. Today, our products and services include a range of credit cards, private label cards, personal loans, home loans, auto loans and leases, as well as corporate travel and purchasing cards and credit insurance.

GE Money in Romania - Consumer Finance

GE Money entered the Romanian market in 2006 by acquiring three specialized financial services businesses - Leasemart Holding BV (Leasemart, trading under the “Motoractive” brand), Ralfi IFN SA (Ralfi, trading under the “Estima Finance” brand) and Domenia Credit IFN SA(Domenia).

GE Money range of products for the local market include: auto and equipment lease, mortgages, home equity loans, personal loans, debt consolidation and credit cards.

In June 2008, the three companies started to operate and communicate under GE Money brand name, while from the legal point of view they still keep their current status of separate companies and their official names. The integration process initiated by GE Money at the acquisition of the three companies was successfully finalized in less than two years. In this period the company doubled its personnel, expanded the distribution network and launched several new products.

Our main objective is to further consolidate the financial services businesses under one brand and develop an integrated financial services platform.

Banking

GarantiBank is the Romanian branch of the Dutch GarantiBank International N.V.,owned by GarantiBank Turkey, the third largest private bank in Turkey with over Eur 39 billion asset size. In 2005, an agreement between GE Money and Dogus Group, one of the largest conglomerates of Turkey, has resulted in an ownership of GarantiBank's shares by both parties.

Starting 2007, GarantiBank uses GarantiBank Turkey's and GE's expertise to extend its services to Retail and SME customers, while continuing to widen its corporateand commercial clientele. GarantiBank has embarked on a massive expansion of its retail distribution channels, further developing its branch and ATM networks and investing in its award winning online branch (Best Internet Banking Solution in Turkey for 6 consecutive years).
