Fuel Conversion Lab

Next Generation Clean Fuel Production

The Fuel Conversion Lab does research on clean technologies for the production of cleaner fuels for energy production.

Global production of clean fuels is an area of intense interest, today and for the foreseeable future. The Fuel Conversion Lab, a branch of EPT located in Irvine, CA, does research in some of the most exciting areas of clean fuel production. The Lab’s major focus is on gasification technologies.

Gasification of solid fuels allows for the production of syngas, a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. This mixture can be treated much more effectively following gasification rather than combustion. This process produces a mixture which can be used to produce hydrocarbon fuels, clean energy via combustion processes or hydrogen, which can be used for a multitude of applications.

The people of the Fuel Conversion Lab are chemists, chemical and mechanical engineers who are passionate about realizing the next generation of clean energy sources using state of the art research equipment. We have the ability to study fuel conversion systems from the computer, to the lab bench through the pilot scale. Our mission is to imagine the next generation of fuel production technologies and bring them to life in our Irvine lab.
