Community week

Community Week is a global initiative of all GE businesses. During this week the employees carry out hundreds of charitable projects to the benefit of their local communities.

In Poland the Community Week was entitled "Open your eyes… to the World" and took place in Gdansk, Warsaw, Cracow and Gniezno, from 15th to 20th May 2006.

Community Week initiatives:

‘Metamorphosis’

SMT Members refurbished the TPD (Friends to Children Society) Center for unprivileged children in Gdansk.

‘Happiness of Children in our Hands’

A project to the benefit of the Educational Center for Disabled Children in Gniezno in which the employees renovated the playground and bought medical equipment and toys. Moreover thay have organized a picnic with many surprises for the children at this institution.

‘The Walls’

50 employees have renovated and repainted the summer camp for the Children living in the Orphanage in Tczew. They have refurbished the whole canteen and 16 bungalows It was a fantastic surprise for the Kids to see their old camp in bright colors!

‘A Tramp on Piastowski Szlak’

The employees have invited a group of pensioners from the Community Social Welfare Center in Gdansk to an exciting trip to the landmarks of Polish history

‘Sunflower Island’

‘Sunflower Island’ – the acting performance created by children from a few orphanages in Warsaw. Purchase of tickets by 90 GE staff members allowed for staging the performance at a renowned Warsaw theater.

‘Big Cracow of Small Explorers’

In Cracow over a hundred children from the Community Social Welfare Center, with the guidance of GE Money Bank Employees, have explored: The ZOO, Anikino Movie Theater, Wawel Royal Castle, The Grotesque Theater and Aquapark.
