GE is recognised as one of the world’s most admired companies with a history of growth through innovation, leadership and integrity. In 2005, GE launched one of its most ambitious growth strategies, and its first cross-business initiative – ecomagination. With ecomagination the company has taken a leadership position in the development of - environmentally-friendly technologies to address their customers’ biggest challenges, - progressive climate change policies working with governments across the globe, and, - policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their global operations, which they have committed to reduce by 1% by 2012.
Steve is a keen participant in the climate change debate in Australia and a strong proponent of the economic opportunity presented by that challenge. GE invests billions annually in building the technology to address their customer’s toughest problems from water scarcity to exploration, from fuel-efficient jet engines to energy efficient light bulbs.
Steve has had a long career in the finance sector globally, starting with Westpac here in Australia, then moving to New York, where he joined GE in 1993. As GE embraced Six Sigma in the 1990s, Steve took on several roles in Quality before becoming the Chief Quality Officer for GE Commercial Finance in 1999. He went on to run the European Equipment Finance business for GE in London before returning to Australia in 2003 to his current role.
