GE Volunteers
GE has a strong culture of volunteerism in the communities in which we work. Every employee is encouraged to participate in volunteer activities during work time throughout the year. In Australia and New Zealand, this ranges from managing and running fund raising events for the Women’s Cancer Foundation for their vital work in ovarian cancer research, through to helping Ardoch with local school programs, caring for intellectually disabled kids during excursions or even planting trees with the local councils.
In 2007, GE volunteers supported around 5,000 community projects in Australia.
Solving Environmental Challenges
GE’s ecomagination initiative is about making technologies that are both better for the environment and financially sensible – solving environmental challenges in a truly sustainable way.
Much of GE’s technology was used to support the Beijing Olympics – from security scanners to healthcare ultrasound through to water reprocessing and energy generation.
