GE's Del Williamson, a Leading Figure in Global Power Industry, Announces Retirement

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (November 19, 2003) --- Del Williamson, president of Global Sales for GE Power Systems, a 45-year GE veteran and a widely known figure in the world power generation industry, has announced his retirement, effective Feb. 1, 2004.
"Del's contributions to GE, and to Power Systems in particular, have been immeasurable," said John Rice, president of GE Power Systems. "Through Del's commercial leadership and vision, Power Systems has achieved unprecedented growth. The relationships he has formed with customers and colleagues throughout the global energy industry are a terrific legacy that will serve us well into the future."
Williamson joined General Electric in 1959 and held a variety of management positions for the Steam Turbine, Gas Turbine, Distribution Transformer and Nuclear Energy divisions. In 1980, he became general manager for the Battery Business Department and in 1983 moved to London as vice president, Middle East and Africa Business Division.
In 1986, Williamson returned to the United States as vice president of marketing and sales for the Power Generation business. In 1993, he moved to Hong Kong where he was president of GE Power Systems Asia-Europe-Africa. He was appointed to his current position in September 1997.
Williamson attended the University of Kansas and graduated from Finlay College with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.
Rice also announced that Williamson will be succeeded as president of Global Sales by Jim Suciu, vice president of Energy Services Sales, who has served GE for 21 years. Suciu has held leadership positions in the commercial area including Commercial Operations for Energy Products, Region Sales Management in both China and Northern Asia, and Marketing and Business Development in Singapore. He is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering.
