June 04, 2003

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (June 4, 2003) --- GE Power Systems has announced that it will conduct two single day Technical Educational Conferences in June. Each conference will have two tracks: Energy Services for Power Generation and Automation Technologies for the Electrical Transmission and Distribution market. The seminars will be held in two locations: at the Marriott in Ontario, California on June 17 and the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Pleasanton, CA on June 19.
The Automation Technologies track has been specifically developed for engineering staff and representatives from utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, investor owned utilities (IOUS) and industry consultants who are interested in learning more about the latest industry technologies and solutions. The Energy Services track has been developed for owners and operators of power generation equipment. Individuals interested in attending these technical conferences can register online at www.gepower.com/dhtml/corporate/en_us/conferences/california/index.jsp. Seating is limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Automation track will highlight GE solutions for the transmission and distribution marketplace. Topics that will be covered during the day include substation and distribution automation products and solutions, integrated protection, transformer monitoring and diagnostics, automation systems solutions, physical and cyber security, solutions for EMS / SCADA, outage management, geographic information systems, and future industry direction. There will also be demonstrations on the GE Virtual Substation product and the integrated utility.
The Power Generation track will focus on the environmental and production side of power plant operations with presentations that address changes (proposed and active) in the California regulatory communities, monitoring and diagnostics for plant and equipment, operation and maintenance alternatives, and new products for power generation. Subjects have been selected that address the wide spectrum of the customer's administration, operations, and maintenance needs related to the dynamics of California's energy requirements.
A product fair will take place at the end of the technical sessions with technical product specialists in attendance to answer questions and perform product demonstrations.
