ATLANTA, GEORGIA (April 22, 2003) --- At a contract signing ceremony held recently in Shanghai, GE Network Solutions, a leading supplier of innovative technology solutions to the utilities industry, was awarded its largest Energy Management Services contract ever in China, by Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company (SMEPC) in Shanghai.
Entitled the Renovation Project of Shanghai Electric Power Energy Management System, SMEPC plans to move its operation to a new facility in 2004 and GE Network Solutions will install its XA/21™ EMS/SCADA system at SMEPC's new facility in Pudong. The newly installed system will enable SMEPC to better manage its electric power generation and transmission throughout the greater Shanghai area.
Mr. Shuai Jun Qing, vice president of SMEPC commented, "The current EMS used by SMEPC is not able to support the power system needs we currently have. We selected GE Network Solutions for the state of the art technology XA/21 provides and for the exceptional managerial experience GE offered."
GE Power Systems China Country Executive Steve Fludder stated, "This is the first EMS opportunity of this size that we've introduced in China. We're very pleased to have this opportunity to bring this advanced technology to them."
