GE Appoints Three Company Officers

FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2005--GE today announces the appointment of three new company officers.

Daniel L. Smytka, 42, is Vice President & General Manager, Engineered Systems, GE Infrastructure, Security. Smytka has had a variety roles primarily within GE Consumer & Industrial, most recently as President & CEO, Asia Pacific, GE Consumer & Industrial, a role he began in June 2003. Smytka was General Manager for Consumer & Industrial's Refrigeration product line from May 2001 to 2003. Prior to that, Smytka was General Manager, Sourcing Operations for Consumer & Industrial. Smytka was a member of GE's Corporate Audit Staff from 1993-97 and was a member of the Company's Finance Management Program in 1991. Smytka received his M.S. in Management from the University of Memphis in Tennessee in 1985 and his B.S. in Economics and Psychology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1984.

Darryl L. Wilson, 41, is now President & CEO, GE Consumer & Industrial, Asia Pacific, where he will continue to drive growth across the region. Most recently, he held the role of Chief Commercial Officer, GE Consumer & Industrial, Europe, a position he assumed in 2004 following the merger of GE Consumer Products & GE Industrial Systems. Immediately prior to that, he was President & CEO, Consumer Products - Europe, a role he began in 2003. Wilson was Global General Manager, Specialty Lighting & Automotive from December 2001 to March 2003. In the first 10 years of his GE career, Wilson held a number of leadership roles including Global Digitization Leader/Master Black Belt, Global General Manager, Linear Fluorescent, and product management and marketing roles in the UK, Hungary and the U.S. He received his MBA in Marketing Management from Indiana University in 1992 and his B.S. in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio in 1985.

J. Alex Urquhart, Jr., 46, is President & CEO, GE Commercial Finance Energy Financial Services, a role he has had since December 2003. Since joining GE in 1981, Urquhart has had a variety of roles primarily within Commercial Finance. From June 1998 to December 2003, Urquhart was Managing Director, Global Energy in Commercial Finance's Structured Finance Group (SFG). Prior to that, he held a number of roles within the Structured Finance Group, including responsibility for Domestic Origination in the Energy, Telecom, Industrial and Transportation sectors. Urquhart received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut in 1988 and his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1981.
