General Electric Company is the parent company — a consolidation of GE's industrial manufacturing and services businesses and the financial businesses of GE Capital Global Holdings, LLC.
General Electric Capital Corporation was previously a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Company. In December 2015, General Electric Capital Corporation was merged into General Electric Company and as a result is no longer a SEC registrant.
On February 22, 2012 General Electric Capital Services filed a Form 8-K outlining the merger of GE Capital Services into GE Capital Corporation. This merger simplifies the corporate structure of the financial services businesses by consolidating those businesses and assets into General Electric Capital Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Company and eliminating the reporting obligations of General Electric Capital Services to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
