| Drawing on India's unique multidisciplinary skills from mechanical and electrical engineering to polymer science and chemical engineering the Centre incorporates the latest technology and eengineering tools to facilitate realtime global interaction with GE's businesses, technology centers, customers and suppliers. The John F. Welch Technology Centre, inaugurated on Sept 17, 2000, is home to stateoftheart laboratories working on research and development in the areas of mechanical engineering, electronic and electrical system technology, ceramics and metallurgy, catalysis and advanced chemistry, chemical engineering and process, polymer science and new synthetic materials, process modeling and simulation, power electronics and analysis technologies. The 545,000 square foot Centre has filed for more than 185 patents for research and development activities here in Bangalore and been granted 12 to date.
