Vishal Wanchoo is the Growth Initiatives Leader for GE India and is responsible for leading a consolidated commercial game plan and “Go to market strategy” for the India region. Along with a high powered central team, he is responsible for building strategic and tactical marketing capability which includes market research, competitive intelligence, segmentation, business case development and digital marketing capability across businesses with a tight linkage to product management and technology. He leads ‘In India, for India’ growth programs while driving sales force effectiveness as well as branding and communications strategy for GE India.
Before joining GE India, Vishal was running GE’s global Healthcare IT business (HCIT) in the United States. Vishal has been a GE Officer since 2005 and started his career with GE in November 1997, as the Vice President and General Manager of the Imaging and Information Systems organization, where he was responsible for the development and marketing of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Vishal has been involved in the healthcare industry for more than 25 years. In 2005, he also received the Chairman’s “Heroes of Growth” award. Vishal joined the Healthcare industry in 1982 as a software engineer and subsequently moved into the product marketing/product management area.
Before joining GE Healthcare, Vishal was Vice President of Electronic Imaging at Agfa Medical, where he created and developed Agfa’s PACS business. He started his career as a software engineer at Matrix Instruments, and was quickly promoted through engineering ranks to Director of Engineering. He held several senior level positions with Agfa/Bayer prior to joining GE.
Vishal grew up in India and is an alumni of the Lawrence School in southern India. He earned an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from IIT Delhi and subsequently moved to the US to do an MS in computer engineering at the University of Southern California. Vishal is married to Anna Karin and they have two children, Bjorn and Alina, aged 22 and 20.
