Citizenship
GE's philosophy of being a global Corporate Citizen is clearly reflected in its Central European operations. Our innovative educational programs address the specific challenges of the Central European region in the European Union. We initiated Regional Stakeholder Dialogues in 2006, a new and unique tool to help the CE countries to create a regional vision to adjust to the global economic trends. The GE Foundation Scholar-Leader regional program, enables students to establish a network of young intellectuals from Central Europe who will be equipped with the skills and value set to make that vision a reality. The GE Foundation Life Skills for Employability program, launched in 2006, was designed to supplement theoretical knowledge obtained in school education with skills, and has involved nearly 500 teachers and 10,000 students. We also share our equal opportunity best practice, GE Women's Network, a program for women, which was long unique in character in the region. In addition to this GE’s employees volunteer over 1 million hours of community service every year. The local chapters of the Volunteers organization actively contribute to the communities of the cities in which they operate.
