Our Public Policy Commitment
The GE Foundation has built a legacy of applying our best resources - people, ideas, talents and enthusiasm - to make our communities stronger all over the world. Since 2002, we have supported some of the leading non-governmental organizations who are working to resolve the most challenging and pressing public policy dilemmas confronting the global business community - from providing grants on general business governance issues to supporting grants for operations of some key organizations.
Utilizing our human and financial capital, we set out to foster the development of solutions that could bring about collaboration between NGOs, business, governments and civil society, in order to address public policy needs. Our portfolio of grants has grown significantly in the last decade, as we have dedicated our investments to projects that will have a truly global impact.
Since our public policy work began, we have:
- 31
- Collaborated with 31 leading organizations
- 50
- Worked in over 50 countries
- $9,000,000
- Awarded nearly $9 million in public policy grants
How GE Foundation Grants Are Awarded
We treat each organization the same way we treat every new GE product: by assessing what unmet need it addresses, how it ties to our mission, how the work can be sustained, and what impact it will have. As part of our commitment, we also engage GE employees to provide context, expertise and feedback.
The GE Foundation has made a point of partnering with NGOs, academic institutions and think tanks that are ahead of the issues, not merely catching up to them, and we hold each organization accountable for bringing their ideas to fruition.
