EHS Academy
Guangdong, China
GE Foundation supported the creation of an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Academy in Guangdong, China. As many small and medium enterprises in China lag behind international standards for environmental practices, the course aims to help EHS managers understand legal requirements and also show them how to implement changes. Training includes topics like economic incentives in environmental decision-making, pollution prevention and clean production, and energy efficiency. The program provides low-cost continuing education and increases the number of qualified EHS professionals in the region.
Medical Best Practice Exchange
Central, Eastern and Ashanti Regions, Ghana
GE Foundation supports the Medical Best Practice Exchange, a program that funds U.S. minority medical students to go on three-month rotations to district, regional and national public hospitals in Ghana. Rotations allow Ghana Health Service doctors to learn modern practices and trends from the U.S. students. The exchange also exposes students to the developing world medical environment and allows them to gain insight into the impact of GE-donated equipment.
