Transcript: Innovation - Making of Wrench
- Larry Teachey:
- My name is Larry Teachey, I'm the environmental Health-Safety-Security leader at GE Greenville , and today we're participated in the making of a GE commercial.
- Todd Powers:
- Today we've got a commercial shoot going on, that I guess the title of the commercial is 'The Wrench'?
- Camera Man:
- There it is, the star of the show
- Don Schneider:
- So essentially in this spot, we're opening on a mechanic in an aircraft engine assembly facility. He slides out from under an engine, and asks if anybody can toss him an 11-16th wrench. GE employees from all over hand this wrench to each other until it ends up right back to our guy. He sees it, he says thanks, and we cut to a few people saying, 'Hey, no problem Paul.'
- Paul Tucker:
- Ha ha, I've been an actor for about one day!
- Make-Up Stylist:
- I go to his house every morning, I have to make him up, he insists now, he's Mr. Diva.
- Tucker:
- That's right! Once you cross the Rubicon there's no going back
- Timothy Wilkins:
- When I'm not acting I work here in Lynn. Here we build jet engines for both commercial and military applications.
- Eric Strimbeck:
- It was impressive for me to see my son and his fellow Marines flying in a product that I've produced.
- Vincent Falls:
- Where else can you do this kind of work, touch something that flies?
- Amos O'Neil:
- It's a CT scanner, and it actually saves people's lives.
- Ron Rux:
- Makes you feel good to work on something like this.
- Levi Perrin:
- We're here in the GE plant in Greenville, South Carolina. This is the area where our gas turbines are built.
- Teachey:
- The turbine that you see behind us is a... a frame 9-8, that's a several hundred mega-watt unit that will power a lot of residential homes.
- Joe Jackson:
- I think it's great, you know, that y'all chose this plant to shoot the commercial.
- Idy Adolphus:
- Every time I go to the airport I recognize the engine, and I tell people that's what I do!
- Bernie Donovan:
- We believe we make the best engines in the world.
- Chris Wade:
- Our biggest thing is quality, it's measure twice cut once.
