
Richard Laxer is President & CEO of GE Capital Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), a position he has held since 2009. In April 2011, his role was expanded to include GE Capital's retail banking operations in EMEA, creating one of the region's largest commercial and consumer lenders with over $80 billion in assets, 19,000 employees, more than five million customers and operations in 19 countries.
For businesses, particularly small and mid-market firms, GE Capital EMEA provides a range of specialised financial products and services including receivables financing, distribution finance, acquisition finance and commercial loans and leases to support customer needs. In addition, GE Capital EMEA serves millions of consumers through its award-winning retail banks in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Nordics, Poland and Switzerland.
GE Capital EMEA also includes Mubadala GE Capital PJSC, the $8B commercial finance joint venture between GE and Mubadala, based in Abu Dhabi, which is focused on commercial investments around the world with a particular emphasis on the Middle East.
Before moving back to Europe in 2009, Mr. Laxer was President and CEO of GE Corporate Financial Services, GE's global corporate lending business with 3,800 employees and a major investment portfolio. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of GE Capital Solutions, a global leasing and asset provider with operations in more than 30 countries. From 1991 to 2003, Mr. Laxer held roles of increasing responsibility at GE Capital Real Estate, concluding with running Asia Pacific.
Mr. Laxer is a GE Officer and a member of GE's Corporate Executive Council and has been with GE for more than 26 years - joining the company in 1984 as a member of the Financial Management Program. He holds a B.S. in Business from Skidmore College and is a member of the Friends of the President's Council at Skidmore College and was on the Board of Directors for the Business Council of Fairfield County.
Mr. Laxer lives in London with his wife and two daughters.
