GE Foundation

GE Foundation started the first Matching Gifts Program in 1954 to encourage employees to support non-profit organizations in their communities.

More than 50 years ago, GE Foundation began making grants to non-profit organizations for charitable, scientific, literacy and educational purposes. Today, GE Foundation provides broader impact support for solutions to some of the world's toughest problems.

Selected Initiatives

  • Developing Futures™ in Education

This signature education program provides multi-year education grants to select U.S. public school districts. So far, GE Foundation has committed nearly $150 million to six school districts across the country.

  • International Programs

GE Foundation funds training and education initiatives in emerging markets to improve capacity building and reduce disparity. These programs cover topics such as environment, health and safety in the workplace, healthcare capacity building, and primary and secondary education.

  • Disaster Relief

Through our grants to relief organizations such as International Red Cross and UNICEF, GE Foundation is able to assist communities affected by natural and humanitarian disasters. From the Darfur region of the Sudan to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, we are quick to respond when disasters strike.

  • Matching Gifts

By matching donations above $25 made by GE employees and retirees to eligible non-profit organizations, we promote a strong culture of giving within the organization.
