- Provide summary of international education and public policy initiatives.
GE Foundation supports training initiatives that increase skill-building to ensure sustainable infrastructure development. In addition, GE Foundation also funds education initiatives that reduce disparity for girls and vulnerable groups as well as initiatives that improve the quality of primary education and increase the access to higher education.
Training
EHS Academy
ChinaGE Foundation supported the creation of an Environmental Health and Safety Academy in China. As many small and medium enterprises in China lag behind international standards for environment practice, the course aims to help EHS managers understand requirements of law and also show them how to implement changes. Training includes topics like economic incentives in environmental decision-making, pollution prevention and clean production and energy efficiency. The program will increase the number of qualified EHS managers in the region.
Medical Best Practice Exchange
Central, Eastern and Ashanti Regions, GhanaGE Foundation is in its fourth year of supporting the Medical Best Practice exchange. The program funds U.S. minority medical students to go on three-month rotations to district, regional and national public hospitals in Ghana. Rotations allow Ghana Health Service doctors to see modern practices and trends from the U.S. students. The exchange also gives students exposure to developing world medical environment and allows them to gain insight on the impact of GE donated equipment.
Health Worker Capacity Building
Isingiro District, UgandaHealth Worker Capacity Building is a three-year training program that aims to strengthen institutional capacity to provide quality care across four hospitals in the Isingiro District of Uganda. The course shows proper infection prevention and standards-based management practices. The training program will increase productivity and motivation at hospitals as well as increase local confidence.

Education
Girls Education in Africa
Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Rwanda, Ghana and UgandaGirls Education in Africa provides support to organizations that work to improve access and quality of primary education for girls and other vulnerable groups. The program aims to improve math and language skills as well as educate students in life skills, hygiene and HIV/AIDS prevention. The Girls Education initiative leverages relationships and learning from the Developing Health GloballyTM program to build stronger communities
Junior Achievement
GE Foundation is partnered with Junior Achievement to provide thousands of disadvantaged students in more than 25 countries access to free enterprise education that address areas such as business, economics, character and ethics, citizenship, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work-related life skills. In addition to funding, GE employees volunteer as mentors throughout the world.
Higher Education Scholarships
GE Foundation works with the Institute of International Education to provide 200 scholarships to students at more than 100 universities in Brazil, Canada, Czech republic, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Thailand, Vietnam and the United Kingdom.
