Entry-Level Program: Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) – Sales & Marketing

GE Energy

The GE Energy Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) is Sales and Commercial position specific. The program typically consists of 4 rotations. You will fulfill responsibilities in various rotations and roles within different GE Energy businesses and groups. The typical structure of the program is to complete 4 rotations in the following areas: Commercial Operations, Technology & Product Marketing, and Field Sales.

GE Power & Water

Sales Development Program Members participate in an intensive technical/selling skills training program to prepare for a future position in Technical field sales. Members work on the Value Delivery team to provide value and meet service needs of current customers, participate in plant visits to gather samples, observe instruments, and obtain information and analyzes/interpret results and report any corrective actions to the customer.

GE Healthcare

The Commercial Leadership Program is an 18-month rotational sales and leadership training program designed to build GE Healthcare's commercial leaders. Responsibilities can include customer meetings, project management, sales and product training, preparing quotations, product marketing, and sales support.

The CLP program accelerates your learning and productivity by incorporating self-study modules, mentored on-the-job training and headquarters sponsored training. You will focus on mastering the skills in Sales while learning the skills and competencies needed to become successful in our business.

The program consists of 3 phases:

Phase I: 3 months in a sales region, shadowing a mentor.

Phase II: 8 months at GEHC Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI. Here you receive your product training, leadership training, sales skills, negotiating skills, presentation skills and are exposed to: marketing, operations, project management, & executive networking.

Phase III: You return to your Sales region for 7 months. During this phase you own a "mini" sales territory consisting of about 15 - 25 accounts (hospitals, outpatient centers, etc). You run and operate the territory as if you are the Sales Representative.

Upon graduation of the program you are placed in a permanent sales region, where you are responsible for selling imaging equipment -Radiology and Cardiology Capital Imaging equipment (e.g. MRI, CT, X-ray, PET/CT, Nuclear, Cath Lab, Intervention Radiology) or Medical Devices (e.g. Monitoring, Anesthesia, Life Support).

GE Home & Business Solutions, GE Intelligent Platforms

The GE Intelligent Platforms Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) is a two-year program that includes three, 8-month rotations or four 6-month rotations with various functions throughout the business. The program prepares candidates for a successful career in sales by mastering technical sales and marketing skills.

GE Capital Equipment Finance Services

The Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) is a structured, customer-centric leadership development program designed to build a pipeline for sales and risk talent within GE. Over a period of up to 24 months, the program allows for interaction with senior leadership and will provide you with commercial knowledge and skills through rotational assignments (on-the-job training) and real-time customer experiences in key areas such as sales, marketing, risk and operations.

GE Capital Fleet Services

The GE Fleet Commercial Leadership Program is a 12 month intensive training program, designed to produce sales professionals in the Fleet management industry. The program prepares candidates for a successful career in sales by providing the opportunity to learn about our products, industry, and customers while making valuable contributions to the organization. Participants are required to engage in all areas of the sales process simultaneously. Extensive training is offered by the company in a variety of methods including online, classroom and field training. In addition to selling skills and product training, CLPs are also exposed to NPS, Lean Six Sigma, Negotiation Skills, Navigation of Financials as well as Presentation and prospect training. The Program is very unique and provides tremendous opportunity to grow with one of the most high-powered organizations in the world.

GE Transportation

The GE Transportation Commercial Leadership Program is a 2-year program that develops marketing skills, sales skills, and business acumen through a strong core curriculum and challenging assignments. In addition to sales and product training, the 6-month assignments expose CLPs to leadership, operations, NPS, Lean Six Sigma, Strategic Planning, Proposals and Marketing. Part of GE Infrastructure, GE Transportation combines the diverse global strengths of the GE family with the local presence customers need to design, develop, and maintain their investments.

GE Enterprise Solutions, Sensing & Inspection Technologies

The Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) is a two-year program that includes multiple rotations into different commercial functions. Each rotation is approximately 8 months in length. The program prepares candidates for a successful commercial career by providing the opportunity to learn about our products, industry, and customers while simultaneously making valuable contributions to the organization.

GE Home & Business Solutions, GE Lighting

The Commercial Leadership Program is a 24-month rotational sales and leadership training program designed to build GE Lighting's commercial leaders. GE Lighting is a division of Home & Business Solutions and provides energy-efficient lighting solutions to our customers worldwide.

The program consists of three phases:

Phase I: Eight months at our Headquarters location in Cleveland, OH or our Service Center in Richmond, VA. Here you will learn about our go to market strategy and processes as well as gain a basic understanding of our business and products.

Phase II: Eight months at our Headquarters location in Cleveland, OH. Here you will continue to develop your understanding of the sales cycle while being exposed to other areas of the business such as supply chain, product service, pricing, and distribution. You will also attend training at GE's University in Crotonville, NY to further develop your leadership skills.

Phase III: The final eight month assignment will be field based where you will interact with our channel partners and develop proficiencies in selling to our end customer. You will continue to build and develop essential sales skills under the mentorship of a seasoned sales leader preparing you for an off program role in field sales.

GE Energy Management

The GE Energy Management Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) is an 18-month program that includes 3 rotational assignments in Sales Operations, Marketing, and Field Sales. Industrial Solutions CLP members will be exposed to various aspects of Sales and Marketing in 3 rotations coupled with intensive systems, product and leadership training. CLP Members will fulfill responsibilities of a Project Specialist managing pre- and post- order activity for small to medium projects during their first rotation. The second rotation consists of Commercial Operations support in a Supply Chain environment or Product Management support in Marketing. Both assignments provide in-depth product and systems experience in critical aspects in the commercial sales cycle. A final rotation in Field Sales will provide exposure to quotations and distributor relationships, preparing the CLP for an off-program assignment as an outside Sales Engineer.
