My first two working experiences were in companies with less than 30 employees. Before joining GE Oil & Gas I worked as a contractor in a small plant in the south of Italy. This gave me the opportunity to learn more about GE and discover how amazing it is work in a cosmopolitan environment.
GE's brand and the organization overall were the key factors. The opportunities that we can reach within our company -- known worldwide as a leader in management practices and human resources -- are simply amazing. To know that different people from different cultures in different businesses (from Oil & Gas to Healthcare to finance) are working to reach the same goal is not something you find in any other company worldwide.
I work in GE Oil & Gas' Global Operations as a Job Just in Time Specialist. I am part of a team that is improving a pilot program that will create a new Center of Excellence in the order to remittance (OTR) phase of the process. I assumed this role after working for four years as Material Manager. My responsibilities include working with key stakeholders to ensure P & L material planning and availability are met, customer requirements are satisfied and inventory levels are optimized.
The most rewarding experience is to always come to work with the same passion of the first day, knowing that every day there will be new challenges. My role gives me the opportunity to get in touch with different functions, including Engineering and Sourcing.
One of the things I'll always remember is the Foundations of Leadership training course held in July 2008 in Munich. I met people for the first time from other GE businesses. Today, I still keep in touch with many of them, and that networking helps me at my job.
