I was working in a small company called Mak-System, based in France. I was managing full implementation of software systems for the administration of Blood Banks for Florida (F.B.S.), Scotland (S.N.B.T.S.) and Arizona (B.S.I). This includes hardware specifications, software gap analysis and specifications, follow-up on development done off-shore (in Skopje, Macedonia) and tests and post implementation warranty.
There were a variety of factors that convinced me to change companies. I was keen to continue expanding my knowledge in different IT sectors. I wanted to pursue my career, but on a wider scale, by joining a larger company. I was also interested in improving my Project Management skills by being exposed to different types of projects. Another driver was to keep the international focus I gained in my previous position. With that in mind, GE was a perfect match. Sure enough, within my first two weeks in GE, I was sent to Spain to help roll out the Fleet European leasing package.
I am an Integration Project Manager for GE Corporate IT (GIS). I have worked in this position since February 2007. My core involvement is managing integration or divestiture of business units to and from GE in EMEA, including workplace relocation. When moving GE employees from or to a workplace, I integrate business specific requirements and address technical challenges in each new layout. My role as the Infrastructure Project Manager interacts directly with the HR, Facilities, Finance and Business IT teams. It is quite pivotal.
Each project is a great challenge that provides a variety of rewarding experiences. As I work with various business units across EMEA, I gain insight into their challenges while working out the best solutions with them. As such, I meet a lot of talented and motivated people. In Corporate IT, it is always possible to reach out for support and to share expertise. It is really rewarding to know you can count on your co-workers to help the business move towards the right solution.
