[[Narrator] The coastal mountains of British Columbia ]
[are endowed with an extraordinary opportunity of clean, renewable energy.]
[In Toba Inlet, construction is well underway on the East Toba River and Montrose Creek]
[run-of-river hydroelectric power facilities.]
[By diverting some water flow from these glacier fed creeks]
[into pipes that deliver the water to turbines at the bottom of the mountains, ]
[clean energy is generated and sent to the provincial grid, ]
[and the water is returned to the river in its original, pristine condition.]
[With these two facilities nearing completion and three others proposed in the Toba Valley,]
[the Toba generated power would provide enough electricity for over 110,000 homes]
[and displace 800,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions]
[had the same energy come from a coal power plant.]
[This is the equivalent of taking approximately 150,000 cars off the road.]
[This clean method of generating electricity will have minimal to no ]
[environmental impact on fish, vegetation and wildlife habitat.]
