[[♪upbeat music♪] [female speaker] Nestled in the northern foothills]

[of the Canadian Rocky Mountains is the town of Chetwynd, British Columbia.]

[It is the gateway to the prairies eastward.]

[It is buffeted by southwesterly winds that blow off the mountains]

[and over Williston Lake,]

[winds that average over 8 kilometers per hour.]

[Harnessing the power of the wind will be the Dokie Wind Project.]

[Located just outside of Chetwynd, construction of this two-phase project]

[was recently started, thanks to investments by GE Energy Financial Services]

[and Plutonic Power.]

[The initial capacity of the project will be enough to power 34,000 homes]

[and prevent the emission of over 230,000 tons of carbon dioxide,]

[the equivalent of taking 44,000 cars off the road.]

[The developers have the ability to more than double that in the second phase.]

[Wind is an attractive energy source because it is plentiful,]

[renewable, and cleaner than traditional sources of power.]

[And Dokie is located close to existing BC hydro transmission lines,]

[so it will require minimum power line construction to connect.]

[The Dokie Wind Project diversifies Plutonic Power's and GE's renewable energy portfolios.]

[Plutonic and GE are advancing their projects to help British Columbia]

[realize its near-term goal of energy self-sufficiency.]

[Together they are the most dominant players in British Columbia,]

[supporting the government's quest to become a global clean energy powerhouse.]
