[[Why work in Software at GE?]]
[[Aisha, Software Engineer] The reason I started working for GE is because]
[I saw this as a place where I can see the impact of my research. ]
[[John, Software Lab Manager] During your career here at GE, ]
[you can take your unique set of skills and talents]
[and apply them across a wide range of these areas. ]
[[Bernie, Computer Scientist] I've been here actually for about 23 years,]
[and it hasn't seemed like I've been here 23 years. ]
[[Charles, Information Scientist] I love being able to solve problems in ]
[a lot of different domains. ]
[[Chris, Software Engineer] Some of the great projects I've worked on here ]
[including big data, high-performance computing, image analysis and processes. ]
[[Bouchra, Information Scientist] The dream would be able to work on]
[different projects, on different areas, on different applications,]
[and GE provides that to me. ]
[We get to impact a lot of lives and in our customers and make them better, ]
[and that is really, to me, a very exciting thing. ]
[I'm given an enormous amount of freedom to think about all different kinds of problems--]
[problems in software and architecture, problems in physical systems. ]
[[Kunter, Software Principal] I realized that this was going to be like]
[running my own business, but I had more resources than I could ever imagine. ]
[I get to cooperate with academia. ]
[I get to work with the government. ]
[Well, on a single project you could be working with operations researchers, ]
[electrical engineers, industrial engineers, computer scientists, ]
[finance people, marketers, and it's really at the intersection of those diverse sets ]
[of skills and disciplines that a lot of magic can happen from an innovation perspective. ]
[For me, the most important thing that I can do is have an impact on ]
[the lives of the people around me, the people that I love--]
[When I was pregnant with my daughter, they used a GE ultrasound machine, ]
[And I was very proud at that moment. ]
[If we're successful, we're going to save lives, and that's incredibly exciting, ]
[and that's what gets me pumped up to come to work every day. ]
