[[Jeff Fulgham-GE Water & Process Technologies] Jeff Immelt reinforced how]

[important this business is.]

[How it absolutely aligns with the overall strategy of GE]

[to really take on the tough challenges of the world,]

[how we continue to invest in technologies,]

[and that technology will be a critical differentiator in the water business.]

[Ed Rendell was fantastic.]

[As the governor of Pennsylvania, he is in a unique position]

[that he's trying to balance the economic growth of Pennsylvania ]

[due to these fantastic gas resources that we have,]

[but he has to balance that with the environmental challenges of]

[meeting the needs of his state.]

[Three primary areas that we focused on that we see as enablers for water reuse.]

[The first is around technology.]

[A lot of the technologies are here today that enable reuse,]

[but we really need to look beyond that to pull energy and other costs out of reuse]

[and, also, to develop the technolgies that take on the really tough, challenging waters.]

[So, technology was first.]

[Second, we talked a lot around the economics.]

[There's a real disparity between the value and the price for water,]

[and we, as a global organization, have to figure out how do we overcome that]

[and make sure that water is truly priced equivalent to its value.]

[The third piece that we talked a lot about was around policy.]

[How do we make sure that the policy makers around the world]

[are driving the right behaviors to incent people to reuse water]

[and to be much more efficient in the way that we manage our water resources.]

[One of the take aways that I thought was really interesting]

[--and unexpected for me--was how important the education component is]

[that we have to continue to raise awareness of not just the water challenges around the world,]

[but there truly are solutions, and what a great solution water that reuse is. ]

[I think as we raise that level of awareness, ]

[it's really going to drive this market place.]

[The customers were incredibly positive.]

[They see GE as a thought leader in this space.]

[We have a tremendous amount of experience,]

[and projects that have been in place for the last couple of decades,]

[but I think people realize that GE is absolutely the company]

[that is going to be the partner that they want to work with.]

[They see us as a technology developer, truly differentiating.]

[Also, they see us as looking at this as a holistic problem.]

[You have to take into account all of these issues]

[--technology, policy, the economics--]

[and they see GE as leading that space.]
