[A lot of other airshows are about trade and it's about commerce.]
[[male speaker] There are technology forums where you can actually get your hands dirty.]
[There are vintage aircraft, so you can learn all about those.]
[There's really a broad spectrum of interest]
[that comes here at the AirVenture.]
[[male speaker] It is a place where you can meet innovative people,]
[and they show all kinds of diverse products for the future,]
[and it makes it so different.]
[Plus the passion--you meet with passionate people]

[[male speaker] You call it an air show, ]
[but the air show is a 3-hour event that happens each day.]
[It's a family gathering of people,]
[and here's half a million people from around the world]
[who get together this one week out of the year to share this common passion.]

[[male speaker] Oshkosh is literally hundreds of acres of ideas.]
[And so our goal of being here this week]

[A group of us at GE and a group of us at Airbus got together and said,]
["Hey, let's pair off our advanced engineering team]
[and let's see how many good ideas can come from on the grounds of Oshkosh."]
[Innovation is all about people, and it's all about individual people.]
[Innovation isn't a corporate agenda, it's not a machine you can turn on or turn off.]
[It's individual intellect creating something, and that's what we find here.]
[[male speaker] We're here on an innovation treasure hunt at Oshkosh,]
[looking for new ideas and new concepts.]
[It's a great place to come for that kind of thing]

[because this is really the birthplace of a lot of new technology in aviation]
[and all kinds of opportunities to find new things.]

[But that's not what it's about. It's about the people and how much they love aviation.]

[to make us fresh, to make us reinvigorate that passion that we already have]

[My name is Juliette Cosh and I'm a pilot.]
[[Juliette Cosh - FAA Member Since 1998] I built my own plane with my husband.]
[We definitely have areas of expertise that we learned along the way.]
[I love the riveting, the fiberglassing, and just attention to detail.]
[He's definitely the electrical and engine man.]
[So together we make quite a team.]
[My name is Roger Cosh, and I helped my wife build an airplane.]
[[Roger Cosh - FAA Member Since 1998] My skills were in working on the engines,]
[and she took care of everything else.]
[[J. Cosh] What I really remember is how at nighttime,]
[at 3:00 in the morning, I would just say, "Are you awake?"]
[And I'd hear a, "Yep." "Well, I've got this idea."]
["I think this is how we can fix this problem that we're having."]
[And it also gives you a great feeling when you accomplish it]
[and you can actually see the plane fly then later.]

[I live in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I've been a pilot for 32 years]
[and have been coming to Oshkosh for 15 years. [♪♪]]
[The group of people that build airplanes--you won't find a more creative,]
[meticulous group of people to work with,]
[and that is one of the most rewarding parts is meeting these people]
[that share this common, not only passion, but this mindset]
[about how to approach problem solving.]
[One of the rituals I have is the last day I'm here]
[I get up early in the morning, by about 6:00 at dawn,]
[and I'll just walk out to the main portion of the area and stand in the center of it]
[You're frequently at a loss for words as to what it means to come here,]
[Next week I'll go home and I'll start thinking about coming back here next July.]
