The Olympics Leave a Lasting Legacy in China

Beijing is spending over $40 billion on new subway lines, airport terminals and other infrastructure developments, and GE will help leave a lasting legacy for all China.

[It's extremely positive and leaves a great legacy. ]

[and buildings going up at incredible rates. [chuckling]]

[that the host city and the host organizing committee needs.]

[[Right now we are at the No. 2 Line of the Beijing Subway,]]

[[where many GE products are installed]]

[[including fire control, safety and security]]

[[automation and lighting systems.]]

[[female speaker] This Beijing Airport Terminal 3 is going to be one of the largest]

[airports in the world. ]

[We have provided lighting for some part of the terminal building.]

[We also provided the baggage handling explosive detection systems.]

[I hope everybody feels when they check in, when they leave the city]

[and go wherever they will go, that it's much safer.]

[This is the most difficult venue in terms of the lighting design.]

[[male speaker] When we're trying to get the lighting right in the water venue,]

[we've taken into account the reflection, the angle,]

[what the cameras need to be able to see, what the swimmers are going to see.]

[Here it is in operation, and it actually worked very well.]

[[male speaker] The Swimming Center, the National Stadium, ]

[the National Convention Center, can provide a lasting impression]

[and terrific opportunity for the people of Beijing to go out and exercise,]

[go out and enjoy concerts, enjoy shows, conventions, etc.]

[So all of these venues have plans for after the Olympics Games.]
