[and you're peering in and you're trying to figure out what's going on inside of the structure.]

[My name is Greg Madden. I've been with GE almost 23 years.]
[I was asked to come here to Beijing to help start up the Beijing Olympic Team.]
[I really focused on my portion, the building of the stadium,]
[trying to bring as many GE products and services as we can]
[to all the venue owners of the stadiums.]
[We're standing in the National Stadium in Beijing,]
[located on the Olympic Green, the north end of the city.]
[If you draw a direct line south from here,]
[you'd look at Tiananmen and the Forbidden City.]
[The actual physical site selection of this location is very critical]
[because hundreds of years ago when the emperor was sitting in the Forbidden City]
[and looking north, he had a direct line of sight to this spot.]
[So there is historical significance to it, and it's very, very strong.]
[Our participation here at the National Stadium started off early on,]
[the biggest system being the electrical power system]
[and also different elements of the security system,]
[like fire alarm and fire safety.]
[In addition to that, obviously all the lighting]
[and staying in touch with the designer, Herzog and de Meuron's, requirements]
[for lighting that blends into the structure.]
[The Olympics is something that really binds communities together.]
[We're all living on this small planet together.]
[We all have to respect each other and the planet we live on.]
[[♪♪] The only word to describe it is proud--I mean, proud to be a part of the GE Team,]
[proud to be involved in all the good work that's been done here.]
