[[Rick Overholtzer-Retired GE employee] My name is Rich Overholtzer.]
[As a young child in Iowa in the 1930s,]
[I first became aware of Ronald Regan.]
[The entire family used to gather around the radio]
[and listen to Ronald Regan because he was announcing the football games.]
[I believe it was University of Iowa--in fact, I'm sure it was--]
[on station WHO in Des Moines.]
[Just about 20 years later, I had just been released from Navy active duty,]
[started to work with General Electric Company in 1954]
[in the business training course in Fort Wayne.]
[It was during that era--in the mid 50s--]
[when Mr. Regan was beginning his long association with GE,]
[and he was touring various company locations.]
[I was in an office--I guess you'd call it a cubicle--]
[I was working one day in there with my back to the cubicle entrance,]
[I turned around, and there was Ronald Regan.]
[He saw me turn around, and he just kind of stuck his head inside the cubicle.]
[He introduced himself, and he asked me where I was from.]
[I told him that I was from Iowa, and that I had listened to him many years earlier]
[announcing the football games.]
[I guess this kind of pushed his button because he stepped into my office,]
[and then he sort of began to reminisce about the fact.]
[He said yes, he certainly remembered those days in the mid '30s]
[when he was announcing these football games.]
[The whole thing didn't take probably more than a minute,]
[and then he just wished me good luck, and then he moved on.]
