[I am Frances Browne, and I was working at General Electric in Auburn, New York,]

[and it was the day that Ronald Reagan was supposed to visit the building. ]

[And I was very friendly with the general manager, and I made him promise me]

[that he would bring Ronald Reagan to meet me, which he did. ]

[And they came down the aisle where I was working, and we were enclosed in ]

[a little room that had two solid walls, and two walls were like chain--you know--a fence. ]

[And Ronald Reagan comes walking down the aisle, and he looks up and he said, ]

["Oh my! If I had known that you were locked in here, I would have brought a cake]

[with a saw in it." That was his first words to me. And then he came around to the]

[entrance, which was on the side, and the general manager introduced me to him. ]

[He said, "This is Frances, our leader of this group of girls, and she wants to meet you."]

[So he did, and I said, "Oh, I'm so happy to meet you." And then my manager there]

[said to the photographer, "Oh, let's take a picture of Frances with Ronald Reagan."]

[And they decided to take a picture of me sitting at the bench and doing what the girls]

[do that worked for me, you know. And we were working on a security--miniature ]

[modules--you know--for the government. So I sat down, and he came over and]

[looked over my shoulder, and he was asking me questions about what the girls do.]

[And I said, "Well, this is what we do." And I picked up one of my circuits, and I]

[told him, "Well, what we do is we apply the components on each little peg--you know--]

[terminal that's on this." And they were very small. The most of it was 2 inches long,]

[maybe, and 1 inch wide. And he said, "Oh my goodness. How do you do that?"]

["Don't you use a microscope?" And I said, "No. The girls use their eyes."]

[And I said, "They do this, and we have to be very careful that no wire from another]

[component touches the other one that's not supposed to."]

[And he said, "Oh, I didn't know that." So he was quite interested in it. ]

[And I said, "Yes, this is what the girls do." He said, "Oh my goodness." ]

[And he said, "Do you have any men who can do this?" And I said, "I doubt it."]

[Their hands aren't--]

[But he asked me a few questions, and I answered him, and then]

[it was time for him to leave. He said, "Well, it was a pleasure to meet you, Frances."]

[And I said, "I am very happy to meet you." And that was the end of our conversation. ]
