[GE will purchase 25,000 electric vehicles between now and 2015. ]

[15,000 of these vehicles will go to our GE sales force. ]

[12,000 of these cars will be GM Volts.]

[So it's exciting for us to be able to work with General Motors. ]

[[Daniel F. Ackerson, General Motors CEO] General Electric is big in clean energy. It's a corporate mission for them,]

[and it dovetails well with this breakthrough technology with the Volt.]

[We're extremely excited about the electric vehicle. ]

[It's really going to lead to consumer empowerment, ]

[and we really do believe that electric vehicles are about ready to take off. ]

[[Fredrick W. Smith, FedEx CEO, Electrification Coalition Member] By buying these vehicles, GE is helping ramp up production,]

[which will help lower the price of vehicles and their components]

[and make electric vehicles more visible and acceptable to the public at large. ]

[This is good for GE, good for our economy, and good for our nation.]

[I recently returned from China, and I can tell you that the whole electric vehicle market]

[in China is quite exciting, and I think it's a good opportunity for the United States]

[and Europe to catch that momentum. ]

[Now, this is good business for GE. I mean--we're in this to earn]

[a good return for our investors, and there are many ways GE can participate]

[in the electric vehicle market. We basically touch every part ]

[of the infrastructure, from Smart Grid, our WattStation, ]

[to electrical distribution products and everywhere in between. ]

[GE runs the largest fleet services business through GE Capital.]

[As the cost continues to come down, we think our fleet customers]

[will be very interested. This is very consistent with how we viewed Ecomagination]

[since we launched it in 2005. ]

[We've always believed that clean energy was about commercialization. ]

[It's not a novelty. Broad-based commitments and broad-based strategies]

[are what is going to make clean energy a reality.]

[GE is one of the few companies on earth that can take a fledgling technology]

[like electric vehicles and add both technology and financial services]

[and bring the consumer experience and all the things that are going to make it real. ]

[[Daniel F. Ackerson, General Motors CEO] It's a statement by both corporations. We're interested in their WattStation]

[charging stations. It dovetails well with this electric vehicle]

[and the electric vehicle development across the automobile industry.]

[A marriage made in heaven. ]

[We very much believe in the principles of Ecomagination. ]

[We think this is all about good business driving technology forward, ]

[and we think it's very important for this country, working with great partners ]

[to drive electric vehicle technology into the future. ]
