[[Narrator] Tonight we're going to visit the Reagan's new home again.]

[This time to see the wonderful electric equipment]

[that brings music, drama, and news into their home, and helps them to live better electrically.]

[[Ronald Reagan] Nancy and I were just talking about how amazing it is]

[the entertainment you can get in the home these days.]

[When I was a kid -- hey, do you have that handbill?]

[>> Um-hmm. I came across it when we were packing to move from the old house.]

[>> That's a program for Hamlet, the first play I ever saw.]

[We had to travel all the way to Chicago, over a hundred miles.]

[Of course, Nancy was a big city girl.]

[>> Well, I got just as big a thrill the first time I went downtown]

[to hear the Chicago symphony.]

[>> I'm sure you did, but think how much different it is today.]

[>> Here in our new home, if we want entertainment, ]

[>> all we do is flick a switch.]

[The electricity brings it to us.]

[It's another way we live better electrically.]

[I can enjoy the ballgame,]

[see the latest news in the world, [plane landing]]

[and they bring stars to the theater.]

[[TV speaker] and we'll find something much more suitable on the table.]

[[door shutting]]

[We can get color on this set too.]

[Have you ever seen color?]

[It adds a lot of pleasure and excitement.]

[As a matter of fact, we can take television with us in this house.]

[This is a portable television set.]

[Most of the time it's out here on the patio or by the pool,]

[and it's light too.]

[Of course, a portable radio can be a great deal of company,]

[and it can go even more places, around the home or on picnics or fishing trips.]

[>> I guess you're talking about my new transistor portable radio.]

[Isn't it a beauty?]

[Real top grain leather. I just love it.]

[Ronny has his own special radio too.]

[It's around here someplace.]

[I have to do a lot of traveling -- you know.]

[>> Too much to suit me.]

[>> Well, I feel the same way. I take along a pocket radio.]

[Here it is.]

[This is a transistor radio too.]

[It weighs only a few ounces. You can slip it right into your pocket.]

[Then we have another important source of entertainment.]

[Behind this picture, inside here is a projection machine for home movies.]

[Of course, it comes in kind of handy when I want to run one of my old pictures too.]

[>> Well, I don't know anything we get more pleasure out of than our new hi fidelity.]

[I'm going to play a record now, just to show you.]

[>> Remember what a difference there used to be between home listening]

[and the concert hall? Well, wait until you hear this high fidelity sound.]

[>> It's almost as if the orchestra were playing right here in the living room.]

[>> And you can bring up the beauty of the string section,]

[or bring up the color of the brass.]

[You can tailor the sound to your mood or to the room you're in.]

[As you can see, we're enjoying all the entertainment that electricity can bring us,]

[and so can you.]

[There's no trick to it. It's just a matter of starting in easy stages, one item at a time.]

[The first thing you know, you and your family will begin to ]

[[together] live better electrically.]
