[[Mike Jones, VP Business Development Healthymaginaton Fund, GE Healthcare]]

[We announced today that GE Healthcare is forming a strategic relationship with a ]

[company called CardioDx.]

[And as part of that strategic relationship, the Healthymagination Fund, ]

[which I'll talk about in a second, will also be investing--]

[making a minority equity investment--in CardioDx.]

[The Healthymagination Fund was launched at the end of ]

[last year just about the time that GE launched ]

[its overall Healthymagination initiative. ]

[We're not just looking to make investments in companies like ]

[a traditional venture capital investor might. ]

[We are looking for financial returns. ]

[But really we source our transactions]

[by first starting to try to find companies]

[that we can develop a strategic business relationship with.]

[And that can include product development, ]

[distribution, co-marketing of products.]

[But really, companies that we view, in a partnership form, can help facilitate our strategy. ]

[This fund is just another tool that we have ]

[to help advance what we're trying to do ]

[from an overall business perspective. ]

[CardioDx is a pretty good example of the type of companies that we'll work with. ]

[It's a private company based in California]

[that has developed]

[genomic-based cardiology tests.]

[As you probably know, GE Healthcare has a ]

[fairly broad set of offerings]

[in and around cardiology diagnostics--]

[from our interventional imaging business to our MDX business]

[to healthcare systems and a lot of the]

[cardiology products we have. ]

[We saw an opportunity to work with CardioDx,]

[and, again, that's sort of led how we got to a place]

[where we got to making investments.]

[We started with what would be the business relationship with CardioDx.]

[We saw an opportunity to ]

[work with them by adding the ]

[in vitro diagnostic capabilities of CardioDx with ]

[our traditional in vitro imaging]

[capabilities to really essentially help]

[caregivers come up with more]

[precise diagnostic decisions around cardiology. ]

[It's a fairly broad-based relationship,]

[and once we established the parameters of what that relationship would be, ]

[we then worked with our colleagues at the GRC and ]

[GE Capital with the]

[Healthymagination Fund to make the equity investment to help ]

[solidify the relationship. ]

[So, it's the first investment that we'll be making out of the fund.]

[We hope that there are many more to come. ]

[These things take some time to accomplish.]

[It's not so much the investment part]

[that takes the most amount of time, but it's really developing]

[a meaningful business realtionship between the partner companies and GE Healthcare. ]
