[Hi, I'm Bob Schwartz. I'm General Manager of Global Design at GE Healthcare.]
[My team is responsible globally for the look, feel, usability, and experience]
[of all of our products and services.]
[We don't seek to create an aesthetic for our product. That's really not our job.]
[Our job is to understand deeply through observation and by talking to customers,]
[what's the problem we're trying to solve? ]
[How do we change the conversation about healthcare?]
[Most customers, they can't see the future. ]
[They understand what they're doing now and what they've done in the past. ]
[So there is a process we have to go through upfront, if we do our job right,]
[to make sure we're getting at that need, even the one they can't see.]
[And we go from there to identifying, then, the questions that we need to answer,]
[and then fundamentally that leads us to ]
[what the big idea needs to be and on to the design.]
[So the design, the look and feel of the product, is really way far down the road.]
[It's the front end that's going to make or break the product in the end in the market.]
[Later in the week, we're going to have an event called Health By Design.]
[We're going to have a really terrific panel.]
[We're going to have a discussion with a large audience. ]
[About 60 people are coming to this, and we're going to talk about ]
[what's missing in doctor/patient relationships, ]
[what's missing in mobility in healthcare.]
[After this panel discussion goes on, we're actually going to take 35 of our customers]
[use some of the toolboxes that we use in design to actually kind of get ]
