[[healthymagination: Showcase Event, Produced by V. Kemp for GE]]
[[Mike Barber Vice President healthymagination] ]
[Hi, I'm Mike Barber, Vice President of healthymagination, and we're here in ]
[Midtown Manhattan where we're having the healthymagination showcase. ]
[We have a series of events planned this week where we're going to take different]
[stakeholder groups through and let them know what healthymagination is all about. ]
[One of the things that's been very interesting is]
[up on the wall we have different words that are]
[As people Twitter anywhere in the world, and they use one of those words that we]
[preselected, it lights up and it lets you know how]
[much of that conversation is happening all around the world. ]
[We're inside the showcase now.]
[There's been a lot of activity still going on. ]
[We're setting up for the 2-week event. ]
[There's a few things I'd like to show you, so come on this way. ]
[One of the key areas that we have is a series of ]
[Because, again, healthymagination is all about what we can do for patients, ]
[how we can really make sure that the patient is at the center of what we do with doctors. ]
[[background speaker] --see more patients, increased productivity]
[and even reduce our operating costs. ]
[Now I didn't want to move to--]
[[Mike Barber] I'd like to introduce you to Bob Schwartz. ]
[He was instrumental in coming up with these vignettes and making sure it had]
[[Bob Schwartz, General Manager of Global Design GE Healthcare]]
[I'm General Manager of Global Design at GE Healthcare. ]
[This showcase that we're in is about human beings, and deliberately so. ]
[Healthymagination is about people's stories.]
[If we think about this as story telling, the products are kind of ]
[We really wanted to tell a different kind of story.]
[We didn't want it to be a big corporation coming out ]
[and displaying all of its products. ]
[As I mentioned, the products are secondary characters to these important human stories. ]
[The connection to the patient, the connection to our customers,]
[and the physicians and the clinicians who]
[work with our patients, that gets me here. ]
[So now we'll walk over and talk about some of those products]
[that Bob referred to and show you what those are all about. ]
[Cancer is one of the big things that we're looking at. ]
[What we can do in terms of early detection, early diagnosis,]
[and then as we follow or monitor treatment therapies ]
[to make sure those are effective. ]
[So we have some CT products that are on display here, ]
[And then our new low-cost x-ray product, as well.]
[So this is an area to talk about some of the traditional imaging products]
[that we have, specifically talking about cancer care and what can ]
[Another key aspect that we have on display]
[is what we're doing in terms of the patient/doctor interaction. ]
[So what are some of the portable technologies that we have]
[that really help that connection between the doctor and patient]
[such that they're always available]
[and in touch with their patients? ]
[So we have things like like new EKG]
[monitoring devices, which are small and handheld and portable.]
[ESys decision support tools are very important]
[for clinicians to make sure the standard of care is really followed. ]
[They can use IT just like it's been used in other industries]
[to make sure that hospitals become very efficient and very effective. ]
[And so this is an area that we talked to different stakeholders]
[about the technologies and services that GE has to offer]
[[background speaker] Now I may be 72 this month, but folks]
[[Mike Barber] It's not just about having another piece of technology.]
[It's really an understanding of what is it that patients need?]
[What is it that, from a payer community, governments all around the world, ]
[when they think of their healthcare system, how can we make sure we have]
[technology that can, again, to the forefront bring]
[costs down while improving quality and increasing access?]
