[Ladies and gentlemen, I am very happy that I can introduce myself]

[as the new chair of Carbon Composites at the University of Munich,]

[The Technical University of Munich. ]

[We agreed today on a cooperation, and we have now the chance]

[to closely work together to bring composite materials,]

[carbon composites, into applications and to improve the components]

[and to ensure that innovations for General Electric]

[ will enter the market with better products.]

[And we have several topics discussed so far.]

[Wind energy for example will be a great topic.]

[Engines will be a great topic]

[because we have a lot of possibilites to develop new manufacturing technologies]

[for cheaper and high performance plates for example--a very big topic for us.]

[And also oil and gas could be a very interesting topic. ]

[So, we start with the carbon fiber]

[with an important part in the SGL carbon.]

[You see here, our carbon fibers]

[in the braiding machine because we have to work]

[with the fibers and textile technologies. ]

[The next step, to bring fibers in the right shape, ]

[so they can really carry load and make the next steps very possible.]

[And the next step is then introducing the matrix,]

[injecting the matrix into the fiber network,]

[and around this, we need a lot of technologies:]

[design for example, structural mechanics, ]

[automization, facility concepts, ]

[and we are rather happy that we can work together]

[on all these fields for the future]

[between TUM and General Electric. So, thank you very much. ]
