[[James Eldridge] My name is James Eldridge.]
[I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1997.]
[When I was in the Marine Corps I served all over the world, from Europe to Asia.]
[I served in Operation Enduring Freedom, 2002.]
[I served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2003-2006.]
[I was hired here at GE Aviation in 2006 as a cell leader.]
[Currently I am the vice president of the GE Lynn Veterans Council.]
[Basically what it is, it's a small organization that works on making sure]
[all the veterans benefits and rights are handled well.]
[A lot of times with guys returning, ]
[they're just not going to talk about it with anybody if they have a problem or anything,]
[but they'll talk about it with another veteran or somebody that's went through that already.]
[So it's just a lot easier for them to, if they have a problem, ]
[talk to me than say somebody else.]
[Just leadership in war--you know--you definitely learn to take initiative, ]
[and take charge, and try to do the right thing.]
[In the Marines we're taught that we need to get the job done no matter what it takes.]
[I try to apply all my fundamentals I learned in the Marines in here.]
[I think it's important for people in GE, the guys that served their country, ]
[they get recognized a little bit.]
[It goes a long way because when you're out there, away from your family, ]
[for a lot of time--years--it feels good sometimes just to get--]
[you know--at least somebody appreciates what you did.]
[To me, that's the most important thing about veterans getting recognized at GE.]
