[[GE - Developing Health Globally, Honduras]]

[[Jose Hernandez, GE Energy, Canada] We tried to improve the quality of life ]

[in those poor countries and also to save life, so that's why it's been an amazing program.]

[What we do on the daily basis is to provide electrical installations,]

[analysis of power systems in Canada and in the U.S., or try to comply with ]

[some engineering and procedural standards in our electrical code]

[so I try to implement the same principles and philosophies]

[in every installation we have done in that hospital in Honduras.]

[[GE - Challenges]]

[I think one of the biggest challenges was to have everyone talking the same langage]

[so trying to follow the same procedures, to make this thing happen.]

[When I went there the first time and I saw all that big mess over there,]

[my first thought was that it would be a challenging job to get all the teams in place]

[but thanks to the help from corporate, and my effort, everything is running okay there.]

[[GE - Sustainable Solutions]]

[I have heard from doctors and nurses over there that the problem they had]

[with all the donations is that those companies or agencies just go over there,]

[just give them the equipment and they just leave, and the problem comes]

[when they are having technical problems with equipment,]

[they don't have its purpose, they don't have technical support,]

[so that's why they need to lay the equipment down, because they don't]

[have the resources, they don't have the money to put them back.]

[So I think that is a good GE approach to always get support to those guys]

[to keep them working. ]

[[GE - Impact]]

[Last June, for example, we had a power outage in one of those]

[hospitals that we donated, and our equipment worked properly]

[switching power back because they had some failures with the incoming power]

[so we saved plenty of babies over that, because of our equipment.]

[Mortality now is going down, because they have better tools now.]

[They have better tools to get those kids healthy.]

[[GE - Support]]

[Working for GE, I think, is the best thing that ever happened in my life,]

[knowing that whatever help we can provide, GE is always there, providing support,]

[so that's good. That's a good feeling. ]

[It makes me keep going and be a better employee. [laughs]]

[We always have a good heart, and I think anybody else from Honduras ]

[would do the same thing, put his heart over there]

[to make this thing happen.]
