[[Marie-Louise Zelmat] Developing Health is part of the healthymagination]

[initiative, and it is about increasing ]

[access to primary care in underserved communities.]

[What it means to me, I think it's really important]

[as a GE employee, I feel that I'm ]

[very privileged and I think it's important for]

[us to give back to our community and]

[do whatever we can to help them. ]

[[Anup Sharma] We picked Houston as a candidate city]

[because we have a large presence here, and Houston has]

[30 percent uninsured population.]

[Our role in the community will be ]

[partnering with the Health Centers.]

[We are going to give them a grant for a quarter of a million dollars and then]

[look at creating volunteer opportunities for our employees. ]

[[Jeffrey R. Immelt] This is where healthcare is going to be delivered in this country. ]

[If we are going to ever]

[bring access and do it at an ]

[affordable cost, which has got to be ]

[the focus of healthcare which is quality, ]

[access, cost all at the same time. ]

[Primary care has to be the front door]

[to improving healthcare future in this country. ]

[And you bring the passion]

[and the local touch. ]

[I think we can bring an industrial company, ]

[but a human face, and when]

[those two come together, really great things happen. ]

[[Marjorie Petty] Many of us, I think, have watched]

[what General Electric has done over the years--]

[the innovation and the philanthropy and also]

[the volunteerism of the employees,]

[the real commitment that you all have made to the communities that you]

[live in and you're to be applauded for that. ]

[[Katy Caldwell] Here at Legacy we are deeply appreciative]

[of the help that GE is providing to us and]

[to the city and to the other of our sister agencies here in town. ]

[Through your funding of our area health centers,]

[your volunteerism, GE will make a big]

[difference in the lives of many Houstonians. ]

[[Dr. Richard Beech] At both locations, more patients are going to have]

[access to primary healthcare. ]

[That's going to allow us to diagnose conditions, ]

[such as diabetes and hypertension earlier, as well as]

[deliver life-saving medications to those same patients. ]

[Overall, this funding is going to help Legacy]

[improve access across our array of health services]

[to more patients to allow access to healthcare. ]

[Sorry, I'm not really used to public speaking this time in my life. ]

[[Amelis Pacinco, patient] Medical care is very important]

[to me and, I think, all the people.]

[This is why]

[I bring my children to the pediatrics department ]

[here at the Southwest Clinic. ]

[Thank you General Electric.]

[Thank you so much for your support for our community. ]

[The Gulfton community says thank you and God bless you. ]

[[Monte Atwell] I'm amazed at what this city is today]

[compared to 30 years ago. ]

[But having said that, I also know that there ]

[is a lot of issues that we have to deal with collectively. ]

[This is a great opportunity for us to ]

[reach out to our community that we live in]

[and really do a great job of bringing this to the next level. ]
