[I was really able to help bridge the communication gap]
[between the senior level leadership and the employees in Hungary]
[so they better understand why we were doing certain processes.]
[[narrator] Will Pearson became an HR manager just as the economy was tanking.]
[I got experience to support a group for the first time as a generalist in tough economic times.]
[[narrator] Sarah Condella worked as a lean manufacturing leader ]
[on the floor in a union plant.]
[It taught me a lot about how to get inside the hearts and minds of people]

[and I'm having a direct impact on that.]

[these young people are gaining real-world business experience,]
[contributing to GE businesses, and getting in line for HR leadership roles ]
[The GE HRLP program is a two-year program]
[consisting of three eight-month rotations.]

[I definitely feel like there is a focus on development.]
[You will be out of your comfort zone at times,]
[and you have to learn to be comfortable with that.]
[You look back in six months, you keep in touch with the people you met]
[and the relationships, and you start to really understand, "Hey, I did that. I'm proud of that."]
