[[male speaker] My job now, I'm in corporate FP&A, which is financial planning and analysis.]

[[female speaker] I'm lucky enough to work with the renewable wind program.]

[[male speaker] I am involved in pricing analysis, ]

[I am involved in budgeting.]

[[narrator] But these young financial whizzes are more than just number crunchers.]

[I'm at the very top of the company,]

[looking at the total company financials across all the business.]

[I completely own a budget right now for the entire logistics portion ]

[of getting that turbine up and running.]

[I am involved in tax analysis and the controllership stuff.]

[[narrator] They're part of GE's Financial Management Program]

[which grooms recent college grads for GE leadership roles.]

[It's the perfect blend between college [FMP - Deepa - 3rd Rotation]]

[and your first job in the working environment.]

[You have four 6-month rotations that you do]

[to give you a little bit of exposure to four different businesses.]

[[male speaker] We have classes during our rotations,]

[and you are graded on that, so you also pick up all the technical knowledge]

[which you are required for the job.]

[You learn how to interact with different teams [FMP - Taylor - 2nd Rotation]]

[and different people from lots and lots of different backgrounds.]

[[♪♪] [narrator] FMPs, as they're called, get to develop their skills,]

[learn the business, and figure out where to go with their careers.]

[[male speaker] I'm a Singapore-based FMP,]

[so I did my first two rotations in Singapore,]

[and now I am here in the US.]

[[Taylor] You really get to reinvent yourself every few months and learn what works for you.]

[[Deepa] I like to think of it kind of like a consulting gig.]

[Every six months we come in, we see how the process works,]

[and we try to make our mark on it and find a way to improve it.]

[[narrator] They're rubbing elbows with top management.]

[[male speaker] Any assignment we go to, we have an assignment leader]

[who is like a GE leader, a CFO of some business,]

[so you work with them on a day-to-day basis.]

[[Taylor] Being able to work on a project that I know the next day is going to the CFO]

[or the CEO of the company, I never thought I'd have that type of responsibility]

[coming out of a college.]

[[narrator] They're interacting with colleagues and building a valuable]

[and gratifying network.]

[The FMP community is huge here. All are young people. [FMP - Ashish - 3rd Rotation]]

[You become very tight as a group, ]

[and you develop a really special bond.]

[[Deepa] It's a very good social network as well as a good network to build my skills]

[and build my career.]

[And I know the people that I'm hanging out with every day, 10-20 years from now,]

[will be CFOs of the business.]

[[♪♪] [narrator] So what does it take to be an FMP?]

[[Taylor] The FMP can be described as someone who is a well-rounded person,]

[who is smart, who can communicate well and get along with other people.]

[And a person that likes to see themselves make a change in the world.]

[You can't be a selfish player here. It just doesn't work.]

[[narrator] What does work is a willingness to learn,]

[to work hard, and to commit to the values that have made GE great.]

[I work in the world headquarters for Renewable Energy, ]

[and not very many people can say that.]

[It's important to me personally that I work for a company]

[that actually helps solve problems in the world.]

[It's a pretty neat feeling knowing that every day that I go to work]

[I'm helping to make the world a better place.]
