[[What is the importance of Business Intelligence at GE?]]
[My name is Keturah Jenkins, and I manage the Business Intelligence platform]
[for Appliances and Lighting.]
[Not a lot of people are very familiar with Business Intelligence.]
[Really what it is is taking the data that business already has]
[but most likely in disparate systems and combining that into one system]
[in order to help them make better data-driven decisions.]
[I'll give you an example of a project that's under way right now.]
[It's really taking data about our customers across multiple systems,]
[putting them in one place so that not only can we make decisions]
[looking at the full picture of the customer,]
[but also when the customer contacts us, we have access to their complete record.]
[So we're really excited about this one and many other projects coming up this year.]
[I've been with GE for just over eight years]
[and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.]
[I've worked for different managers, in different roles, ]
[and even in different companies within GE.]
[But what has always been very consistent and what I've always appreciated]
[is no matter what you would like to do, if you show passion around it]
[and the willingness to get things done, they will find a path for you.]
[And again, this is something I've seen in multiple different companies]
[And between that and the way that everyone has this open door policy]
[of helping people out and best practice sharing]
[and if I figured out a good way to do it, let me share it with other people]
[so they don't have to reinvent the wheel,]
[those are the things that I think have helped make me successful]
[and the reasons why I thoroughly enjoy getting up every day]
